When Steve Job’s introduced “Ping” yesterday my first thought was: “hmmm, looks, feels, sounds like Facebook… but just for music”. Comments, follow, like, dates and even the color scheme..
After downloading iTunes 10 i gave it a quick try:
1. My “Follow recommendations” seem totally out of context. Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, U2… i never bought any single track of them (not even
previewed one)
2. My “People to follow recommendations” are also out of context. No idea why those have been picked – seems those are default for
all at the moment
3. First Band i wanted to follow: Radiohead… “No search results”, no follow button. Beatles, The Who, Hurts, Pixies, LCD Soundsystem, none of
them have a follow button
4. The “i follow” tab says “Connect to Facebook, search for people, invite people”. Well.. how to connect to Facebook from iTunes?
I use two different email addresses for both. One for facebook, one for my iTunes account… Searching for people via iTunes only
only works by email address… no name, city, country filter
5. There is this guy, Jason Bentley on my people-to-follow-suggestions… Who is he? The new MySpace Tom?
6. Uploading an Image doesn’t seem to work (tried in on OSX and Windows iTunes). Doesn’t seem to work for anyone, since no one
on Jason Bentley’s list is having an Avatar/Buddy icon
7. Mr Bentley has 6855 followers atm. Browsing his list without any filter options feels pretty useless
8. Checking my Library i can’t find any functions that do something like “who else bought this” or any function at all…
9. Concert Dates? Where are those? Can’t find any
So, nothing to review here at all… sorry.
Edit: just got my first “wants you to follow” request via EMail… link is not clickable (line break) in Thunderbird. Bugs, bugs, bugs…

… it doesn’t seem to get any better. After my first MacBook Harddisk Crash one year ago, three dying Batteries, now my second replacement Harddrive crashed yesterday.
The first (original) Drive was the Seagate Momentus 5400.2 one, the second (replacement) Drive a Hitachi OEM one – both died with the same good-bye Headcrash Sound.
So after all i now got 2 dead Drives and 3 dead Batteries.
Obviously something fishy is going on with the black MacBook…

It’s been a Problem since i upgraded my good old 12inch Powerbook G4 from Tiger to Leopard:
WiFi Connection drops when moving more than 1 metre away from the Router.
There are various Websites and Forum Threads describing the same Problem, mostly when updating the OSX Install (not doing a Clean Install). I tried nearly all from removing the Airport Startup Preferences Plist File, changing Channels, turning of IPv6 Support, disabling DNS and so on. Latest try was changing the Encryption from WEP to WPA: Still no WiFi Connection when the Powerbook is more than something like 2 metres away from the Router.
Guess my last try will be doing a clean Install, after i backuped all my Data… Thanks Apple for nearly no Support on this Thread.
I am having the same problem with my 17″ G4 Powerbook 1.5ghz, 2gig RAM, with a clean install of Leopard. I would love to sell the machine, but I am worried because of the wifi dropping constantly. Please post something if you figure this one out. THANKS!
