There are 2 new Sites online which kept me busy in October:

1. Deichkind.de

2. Sportlichestalent.de (Mitsubishi Lancer Microsite)

The Deichkind Site uses the Kyte Player which caused some serious Problems, because we were bound to embedd it within Flash. The Site itself was done is AS 2.0, but the Kyte Player is AS 3.0. Though AS 2.0 and AS 3.0 are 2 completely different engines (AVM1 and AVM2) it wasn’t easy to “sync” both (Main Application and Kyte Player).

Check out those rotated Cities (Liverpool, Marseille and Lissabon) on the Mitsubishi Microsite. In the Prototype we first used Five3D to sync a 2D Animation (the rendered 360 degrees City Views) with a 3D Space for the Flag Hotspots (thanks Mathieu for your Support!), tried the same with Papervision3D but skipped that Idea for the current Version, because they aren’t dynamically positioned anymore.

Recently i noticed a Bug in the Flash Player which is there for a really long time and hasn’t been fixed by Adobe since then:

It affects all Input Fields on not showing the correct User Input, especially for Specialchars. So if you are for example typing a double Quote Flash will display the at Sign. When using WMode Window all works fine, but when using WMode Transparent it all screws up (in case you don’t know: using WMode Window is fine as long you don’t need to Display any HTML Content on Top of the Flash Movie, like when embedding a SWF and you have to Display a HTML PopUp above it).

Thanks to Max there’s are partial Solution available here:

The JSTextReader comes in 2 Favours: a Class File and an “load at runtime” SWF. If you use it, be so kind at Donate - Max did great work finding a Solution for a problem Abobe hasn’t fixed for Years. “Partial” because it doesn’t work on Safari.

p.s.: if you downloaded JSTextReader recently and couln’t make it work, download it again, Max just updated the Download some Days ago because the old one was broken

I was trying out “Habari” for some weeks, but switched back to Wordpress now. The so called “next-generation Blogging” was easy to install, easy to manage and simply worked, but…

… why stick to HTML 4.01 which is a nearly 10 Year old specification???

Pain in the Arse: GTA IV coming on 29th of April… and no time to play it! Argh!

Because i did not import the old Blog’s Contents over to this one there arent’ any Project/Portfolio entries here right now.

A quick run down of what i did recently:

Did a Flash Projector Application for a local Exhibition that deals with Google Maps and historic Data (a completely offline thing, so no link here).

Two more Flash Sites are still in Progress - updates as soon they’ve been finished.

Finally it’s done: bitrocker.com is now hosted at mediatemple.

Even i’m still unsure of what i have done. Why do i need to host my german site at some U.S. Servers? … must be some geek thing.

I’m still having a Root Server at a German Hosting-Provider, a regular Webspace at the same Provider and also another Webspace at another U.S. Hosting Company. Jeez!
